About Me

I’m a multidisciplinary creative, educator, and strategist with a passion for solving communication problems through design, technology, and learning. With 20+ years of experience across creative direction, instructional design, and higher education leadership, I help people and organizations make complex ideas clear, engaging, and actionable.

Whether I’m designing a brand system, building a training experience, or guiding students into creative careers — I aim to blend aesthetic clarity, technical know-how, and empathy-driven design into everything I create.

Creative Director & Digital Strategy Consultant

I’ve spent nearly two decades helping businesses translate their ideas into compelling visual and digital strategies. As the founder of Yost Creative Solutions, I’ve worked with over 75 clients across tech, healthcare, education, and B2B industries to deliver:

  • Brand Identity Systems — logo design, brand guidelines, tone of voice

  • UX/UI Design — conversion-focused interfaces that elevate user experience

  • Marketing Campaigns — SEO-driven content, paid advertising, and digital storytelling

  • Web Development — WordPress-based solutions, front-end optimization, and web strategy

  • Creative Team Leadership — project management, team mentorship, and vendor collaboration

My creative work is always tied to outcomes. Whether driving a 300% increase in web traffic or reducing customer acquisition costs, I use performance data to inform every design and marketing decision.

Instructional Designer & Learning Consultant

I build engaging learning experiences that are rooted in clear objectives, sound pedagogy, and creative technology. My background in curriculum development and digital strategy gives me a unique edge when designing for today’s learners.

I’ve created internal training tools, how-to guides, and onboarding materials for clients — especially those looking to demystify platforms like WordPress, Google Analytics, Canva, and other essential tools. I also develop full online learning content for institutional and corporate training needs using platforms like Canvas, Blackboard, and Articulate Storyline.

Instructional Focus Areas:

  • eLearning Development — engaging content, visual storytelling, microlearning assets

  • Tool Training — marketing platforms, design software, CMS, analytics, and automation

  • Documentation & Onboarding — client support materials, SOPs, and knowledge bases

  • Accessibility & Clarity — making complex tools understandable to diverse audiences

What makes my instructional work different is my dual fluency in design and teaching. I don’t just explain what to do — I help users understand why it matters, how to adapt it, and what success looks like.

Higher Education & Pedagogical Leadership

As a full-time Professor and Program Director for over 7 years, I’ve taught students aged 14 to 70 in subjects ranging from graphic design and UX to marketing strategy and typography. I believe education is most effective when it’s relevant, hands-on, and learner-centered — and I bring this philosophy into every course I design or lead.

I ground my teaching in a few key principles:

  • Cognitive Load Theory: I believe clarity trumps coverage. I structure learning around digestible concepts, so students can focus, reflect, and apply.

  • Project-Based Learning: I emphasize real-world projects that simulate professional environments — giving students practical portfolios, not just theoretical knowledge.

  • Scaffolded Skill-Building: Whether teaching Photoshop or strategy, I focus on building layered competencies that give learners confidence at every step.

  • Adaptive, Data-Informed Instruction: I use LMS analytics and student feedback to iterate my courses and improve engagement and completion rates.

I’ve designed new programs, led interdisciplinary collaborations, and built AI training modules for faculty. I see higher ed not just as a place to deliver information, but a platform to inspire change and bridge the gap between theory and industry.
